At our library, book is an important element. Most of our books are organized under the category of Art, Science, and Design. The education of art in architecture seem so lost today, in favor of technology and contemporary issues that are “right” but often speculated or distored, such as the notion of “green design.” An architectural project is first and foremost an art project, according to architects like Steven Holl, who stands against our “boring” practice today. In many case, however, it is hard to take this stand. But the education of art is still indispensable for architects, which is the reason why we have the section of Art in our library. In this section you will find books from Performance Art (music, dance, cinema) to Fine Arts (painting, sculpture) and Literature. Science is also an important branch in our library, due to….Science is important for both Art and Design in the engineering perspective as well as one of materials. Bamboo, for example, is one of our focuses…. Finally, Design is at our core value since we are a desgin collective. In this section, readers will find books about design across scales and media, from furniture design to architecture, landscape and urban design.
Our all publications are the expression of our interest in knowledge found in the referenced books… So far, we have published “ad hoc architecture,” “Pho Hien – mise en valeur,”… Our partner, Tuan Nguyen, also contributes to a few books such as “Hanoi Old Quarter” and “Hanoi French Quarter,” in collaboration with the group Hanoi Urban Sketchers. Last but not least, we have a monthly journal for the collective internal use as well as students of architecture – Kecho Journal, in which we discuss latest art events in the city, Hanoi architecture and our recent projects.
