THE PRACTICE
Kecho Collective is an architecture and urban design practice based in Hanoi, founded in 2005. We work at the intersection of built culture, heritage conservation, and adaptive design for tropical climates. Our work spans residential projects, community spaces, and landscape interventions, each grounded in deep research and direct collaboration with communities.
The studio is organized around two complementary modes: Kecho Studio leads commissioned built work and master planning; Ke Lab develops experimental research, new craft techniques, and hosts public walks and workshops. Both operate from the same conviction: sustainable design begins with understanding place, listening to people, and innovating with local materials and knowledge systems.
Bamboo is central to our practice, as a material and as a philosophy. Strength through flexibility, rapid regeneration, deep cultural resonance in Southeast Asia: these qualities inform everything we design. We combine architectural precision with craft-based making, treating each project as an opportunity to deepen the conversation between traditional building knowledge and contemporary design.
