Cities like New York and Hanoi have all kinds of events. Although the scales and topics of events among cities might be different, they all share their power of gathering people and ideas. Some events are particularly important in shaping the future of cities like ones relating to Architecture and Urbanism, whether organized by policy makers, professionals or educaiton institutions. Some other events are not less important but more “abstract,” and subject themselves to forgetfulness. In some way, events themsleves make the city. Places like the Center for Architecture in LaGuardia street, Van Alen Institute in 22nd street, or the Storefront for Art and Architecture, for example, are not only the container of information (materials of certain events) but also important anchors of a place. The West Village will not be “completed” without the existence of the CFA. At least this experience applies to designers/ architects and desig enthusiasts.  The events noted here by Kecho serve as the “keeper” of this energy and will that we consider important for the development of our contemporary city and culture. They might be the “big” events that stay on the global or national agenda and extremely organized, but they might also be the short-lived events that emerge in our everyday life, but contain in them some important aspects that describe our ongoing achievements or struggles, or are maybe just pure pleasures that one encounter in the everyday.
